Kanyakumari, also known as Cape Comorin is southern most tip of India. Kanyakumari is the land of 3 sea. At this place Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean conflux. This unique merger makes Kanyakumari is popular tourist destination with some exotic beaches.
Kanyakumari is very rich in culture and history. The town has been around for over 1000 years. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Hanuman dropped the piece of mountain he was carrying to Sri Lanka that contained Sanjeevani Booti. Kanyakumari also has important place in Islam and Christianity. There are several beautiful churches and temples in Kanyakumari.
The biggest tourist draw here is the fact that Cape Comorin or Kanyakumari is southern most point of India. The beautiful views of sunrise and sunsets from beaches of Kanyakumari are delight for the tourists. You will find tourists flocking popular sunset and sunrise points everyday. These scenes become even more wonderful during full moon. On evening you will see sunset and moonrise at the same time.

  • Vivekananda Rock :The most popular attraction in Kanyakumari is Vivekananda Rock. This spot is 100 metres from the shore and could be reach by regular ferry service. One of India's greatest philosopher Swami Vivekananda mediated at this spot. This place has turned into a memorial called Rock Memorial. Inside the hall is the tall statue of Swami Vivekananda. 
  • Thiruvalluvar Statue - The statue is dedicated to Tamil poet and philosopher, Saint Thiruvalluvar. The statue of the saint is 133 feet long. Tourists are allowed to climb up to the feet of the statue of pay their homage to great Tamil poet. The view of the area from this point is very beautiful.
  • Chidaraal Temple - The temple is located 45km from Kanyakumari is the small town called Chidaraal. This temple is dedicated to Jain Thirtankaras. Despite being quite old, it is well preserved and should be visited.
  • Kanyakumari Temple - The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kumari. It is built on the tip of the shore. It is believed the Goddess Kumari prayed Lord Shiva at Kanyakumari to become his wife. The idol inside the temple is made of black stone. The diamonds in nose ring of the idol is so bright that it could be seen from the sea.
  • Gandhi Memorial - The ashes of Mahatma Gandhi was kept for public display at this very spot. Later it was turned into a memorial. Today thousands of tourists visit Gandhi Memorial to pay tribute to Father of Nation. On October 2nd, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, first rays of sunlight touches the exact spot where urn containing Bapu's ashes was kept.
  • Tsunami Monument - The monument is dedicated to people who lost their lives in the 2004 Tsunami that affected several countries in South Asia. Several people of Kanyakumari also died in the tsunami.
  • Bay Watch - Around 2km from Kanyakumari is this water theme park, ideal place for family vacation. Some interesting attractions inside the park are crazy chairs, wax museum, sky train, Cape train, Multiple Splash, Milky Way and much more. Wax Museum inside Bay Watch is the first such museum in India.
  • Maruthuva Malai - This hill is believed to be piece of mountain Lord Hanuman carried to Sri Lanka in the epic Ramayana. The mountain is rich of herbal medicines.
  • Shotharilai Beach - The beach is located 10km from Kanyakumari. Due to shallow water, it is ideal for swimming. It is still relatively unknown beach that has helped in conserving its natural beauty.
